Periapalayam is a village about 40 km north of Chennai, in Tiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu State, India. The nearest Railway station is Thiruninravur.It is in Ellapuram block which stretches from east Thanakulam village, west Uthukottai, north Kosavanpettai and in the south up to Komakambedu village. It has one of the main routes to Andhra Pradesh.

In the 2001 Indian census Periyapalayam (Tamil Nadu, India) had a population of 5,420, of which 2,756 were male, and 2,664 were female.[1]
In the 2011 census Periyapalayam (Tamil Nadu, India) recorded 6,749 inhabitants.[2]

Madurantagam is a town and a municipality in Chengalpattu district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The town is known for the artificial and second largest lake in Tamil Nadu, the Maduranthagam lake. It is said to have been built by the Chola King Uttama Chola, also called as Maduranthaka, during his reign. It is also home to the Eri-Katha Ramar Temple.
